Bouncy Bouncy Days

Think we’re different think we’re marvellous

But we’re just like everybody else

Bouncy bouncy never satisfied

Moving on moving up to the fashion house

In the sixties on the hippie trail in the seventies always seem to fail

On the Chile ridge on the tri-state line

Just a small life insignificant

CHORUS Bouncy Bouncy days Bouncy Bouncy nights

[RPT]

[Final line] jiggy jiggy nights

Puchinella witty everyman didn’t ask to be aboriginal

Didn’t steal the land now you’re asking

Was it there for everyman to have

[guitar solo]

CHORUS Bouncy Bouncy days Bouncy Bouncy nights

Jiggy Jiggy nights

MID SECT

From the trunk canal to the turnpike road

Cart and boat to ferry the load

Though the blackthorn is the first to flower

Years fly by hour by hour

Haul on the sheets and it won’t be long

We’ll hear the sound of the Thames Man song

The sound is fair it’ll take up home

No more to hear the roar and moan

[reply] War bash bash bash fiddle far la

CHORUS Bouncy Bouncy days

Bouncy Bouncy nights

Composition Notes

I think this is looking back over a whole lifetime and reducing it to a frivolous exercise. I missed the properly hippie 60's but there was still a lot of that atmosphere about in the mid 70's. The middle section is harking back to Hardyesque and Turner's England. Other than that it's not obvious where the actual words came from but they were in the notebook so in they went.

The mood of this piece is frankly frantic. The chord sequence in the chorus is based on Bob Dylans Lay Lady Lay
