Cast Adrift

[organ intro]

V1 staring through the gloom

Winter’s come but it should be summer

Cold glacial doom

Where did all my summers go _ they’ve

BR Flown so far away

Now it’s judgement day

V2 A different life ahead

Paid a man for a boat to escape on

stranded on the beach

Still Trying to believe there is compassion

BR2 bound for who knows where

are we welcome there

[solo guitar]

BR3] can you help me please

I’m on my knees

V4 Terror out at sea Cast adrift and very near to dying

Fear is the disease no time now to stop and consider

Drones up in the sky any time now they’ll let fly

It all seems so wrong we’re so weak and they’re so strong

[second guitar solo]

Composition Notes

The lyrical concept is absolutely being lost at sea in a small boat. The song's about me but the horrendous suffering of the small boats migrants gets to everyone

The clavinet features in the groove obvs that it nicked from Stevie Wonder. The guitar solos I am happy with I love the flowing lines and the endless sustain sound. Cunningly the solos are in a different minor key a minor third down from the verses which makes it "extra minor"
