Endlessly Working

When I’m 68 / my Funeral will be too late

What’s the point of living / if you can’t keep on giving

Might as well just leave here / only living on in fear

Feel like surrounding / Wolves are howling

CHORUS Endlessly working pushing back and reworking

Can I go on to the end?

Can’t shake the feeling / humbleness and kneeling

Always looking for a friend

V2 [half length] “theres a lot in a look” / When you’re making love

It’s not always inspiration / From above

CHORUS Br II m- V] Endlessly working … pulling out and reworking

Keeping on to the end

It’s a marvellous feeling and it’s everything we’re needing

Little troubles we transcend

Mid 8 Db Eb Ab / Fm Bb Eb / Eb /Db C7 Fm Bb CCC

[Db] punish yourself if you must

First decide who to trust

Get away from the things you don’t want

Take yourself on a jaunt

V Judge a Book by its cover / then you’ll discover

You’ll be helping out with the show

CHORUS x2 Br II m- V] Endlessly working pushing back and reworking

Composition Notes

The lyric is a bit cryptic but is actually about voluntary work which is a strange thing as it sometimes benefits the giver more than the people who are supposed to benefit. Anyway having done many hours of voluntary work in my life I now don't do any. My motto is well you can always say no! It has a nice trivial and playful atmosphere.

Musically this switches feel from straight in the verses with the choruses in a loose swing which is one of my natural feels. The middle 8 has lots of chords but gets home in the end.
