Eve of St Clare 208

V1 When you are young your life seems to move forward but

As time goes by they turn into dead ends

One hundred years ago there was a lovely stream

Now all the green has gone so have my friends

But now on the eve of St Clare

There is plenty of love and compassion to share

There is food on the street there is laughter and fun

Pretty music

And now you can dance with anyone anyone

V2 So now I like her because she likes me

And she likes me well because I like her

Adventures are calling to us on this morning

A whole new excitement and joy to transfer

The Saints call us forward to dance

All my troubles have gone now I must take this chance

Growing old I’ll have nothing to fear

Now we’re well on my our way we can have a great year

[Inst half verse] penny whistle solo

V3 When we Met we had reasons but they were not spoken

And now they are lost in the wind and the rain

Like a pet I was there for you that was my calling but

Taken for granted is no way to live

And the king of the ocean remains

He is lord of the tides and commands all the waves to be calm

And he’s asked the fat ladies along

For the end is to come with their song

Composition Notes: The significance of St Clare is, well, nothing really I just liked the sound of it. The song is about ageing and relationships particularly how for older men we seem to get taken for granted. This is probably why men crave status by being something in a voluntary organisation after they retire.

The music is Celtic Rock with electric guitars which is something I really like.
