Hunterton

V1 Well it’s true at first we were the perfect pair

And our loyalty was holding fast

And although we were not trying to make it up

We thought our love would probably last

But In the end you can't trust anyone

Anyone you’ve given your heart

And another man had got involved

So the time had come for us to part

BR 1] I’ll live here on my own terms

Don’t want nobody else

Coz that place had got no hold on me

and all it give me was stress - as you can guess

Vs2 I told her I was going to find myself

‘cos was feeling that she no longer cared

But I didn’t go in fact I doubled back for a personal view of the affair

I knew full well she wasn’t faithful / But I just had to see for myself

Sure enough I didn’t have long to wait

There were two cars parked outside the hotel -

[CH] There they were holdin’ on / Making love by the light of dawn

You can may it the de-nouement

That was nearly the end of me – the end of me

[instrumental]

V3 last time I went back to Hunterton

I don’t wish to seem remote

Don’t blow my own trumpet / An’ I don’t shout it out

But I got every reason to gloat

Ch] Coz here I am holding on .... making love til the light of dawn

You can may it the de-nouement

.... that was the making of me the makin of me

An imaginary situation where your wife is having an affair somewhere in middle America. There is only one place in the world actually called Hunterton and that is in the middle of nowhere in Queensland Australia so apologies to them.

The huge horn section is inspired by Tower of Power and Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes both which I love especially the bari sax. The sax solo is played on guitar using my oldskool GR20
