Just to Have Survived

VS I consider it a major achievement

Just to have survived just to be alive

Even though reality is coming home now

Re-doing the same things, hard to arrive

It true I loved my mother of course I did

And we knew each other well

better when we didn't stay closely bound together

Better when we don't try to be friends

BR A Man is subject to his mother,

then a man is subjected to his wife

Man is just a meal ticket

Hiding from the light

VS Relentless maximising / Shoved into your jumpers/ turning down your collars /

Mother made me you do it / Tucking in your vest

Constantly improving but / He does not want me playing it

he has another plan for me / You must Wait and see

BR2 My wife does not listen / To what I have to say

When I express my emotions / She don't seem to hear me _

Those of us neglected / No longer attractive

Seeking compensation / In a wilder world

Holidays and sports cars / tugging on the bishop

Watching endless movies / Late into the night

Br3 Death has brought a diminution

Of appetites in the head

Of instinct for competition

But brought a peace instead

It was a close call

Going through the rain

Meeting up with others

Taking their place

It’s a life you want to live

Anyway you want to speak

What you gonna wear today

Why should you care?

Composition Notes: Mothers and wives and musing on a man's place among that.

Production: The main backing of this song is a kind of string quartet which I find a very sad sound. The incidental melody is played on the oboe (synth obvs)
