Kepler 438b

V1 some star-gazing teens have found a planet that seems to be ideal for us to inhabit

It’s a rock that is free called Kepler 438b so I think we should go now and nab it

B1 Ten thousand years of flight should get there if there are beings we will be met there

We’ll take the things we need to live there but we’ll be lucky if there is fresh air

V2 We’ve been searching for years for a planet like ours to destroy with all kinds of pollution

We’ve ruined our own even though it’s our home so this new place’s the perfect solution

B2 we’ve made a muck-up of our planet Killed the bison, toads and ran it

Into the ground it won’t support us who’d a thought it, no-one has caught us

V3 If it sounds like your thing give the spaceport a ring we’ll be signing you up for a lifetime

The spaceship’s leaving quite soon for the trip past the moon where the view of the stars is quite sublime

B3 I would have preferred a rock that’s sweeter three suns are neater a super heater

I’m on the list to join the party 500 light years away I’m such a smartie

V4 When it comes into sight we will shout with delight to the captain our compliments paying

We’ll be jigging around when our feet touch the ground to the sound of the space fiddle playing

[SPACE FIDDLE TUNE]

B4 we need to lose our inhibitions use nuclear fission, go on a mission

Fly away to distant starburst foot on the throttle and we will come first

V5 If this is god’s plan then I’m a big fan Somewhere our new home will be waiting

Warmed by a new star wherever we are our lives will be saved by this new thing

B5 If you can’t go you might be sighing, you should be trying, they might be frying

We’ve sent away our own diseases, all our aggression, our coughs and sneezes

V6 When all’s said and done the earth is the one we’re on ‘til it’s hit by a comet

Then it’s curtains for us we can make no more fuss And Say bye-bye to everyone on it x3

Kepler 438b spares

Cryogenically froze from nose to our toes we’ll be sleeping for centuries after

When we get there you see at k438b the canyons will echo our laughter

they got fish in a tree, a 3-legged flea All kinds of unicorns hairy

Cos its safer you see than Kepler 442b Where the sabre-toothed cats are so scary

A thousand years of flight won’t get there if we set fair we make a bet there

If the grass is red or blue now we can take weedkiller it will be not fair

Only the best ones will be flying there [sighing there, frying there]

We need to bring our own bottle …

V if you come along as see K438b your life will be profitable and easy Only 2 suns for the daylight

We’ll be waiting to see on K438b If the grass that we grow will be greener meaner leaner

Only 2 suns for the daylight We’ll be waiting to see on K438b

If the grass that we grow will be greener meaner leaner

V preferential to me is kepler 442b Its further away but much nicer

Statistical probability We wont be returney

We’ll soon be on our way but only if we can pay Ideas section

With all the talk of ecological and environmental catastrophe it got me to thinking about how humans would deal with another planet if we happened to find one.

This is one of those rare times that the lyrics to a song come along all in a torrent and you end up with too many words. So I have added the spares at the bottom of the actual lyrics I ended up using.

I like using the bottom end of the piano for bass line in this case it is doubled with a bass guitar
