My last day on earth
V1 On my last day on earth I would want it to be good
I’d go and pick wild mushrooms from a secret wood
I’d swim in the pool of love yeah I’d drink from the fount of life
Then I’d get a coffee black for a caffeine rush
HALF CHORUS
Never thought I’d get old
Never thought that I’d get fat
I always thought I’d stay young
And turn the clock right back
V2 You didn’t want my love so I gave it all away
All the times I’ve asked you I don’t know how many times
All this playing in bands
Trying to crack the music industry workings but
One boy on his own
Just ain’t strong enough
FULL CHORUS
Never thought I’d get old
Never thought that I’d get fat
I always thought I’d stay young
And turn the clock right back
Never thought that I would hide from the sky
Never thought that you would leave me so blue
Never thought that we could fall apart again
INST
RPT HALF CHORUS
THEN FULL CHORUS
PLAY OUT
Never Again
Composition Notes: Words are about ageing of course! I once stopped off mid morning in an old cemetery and in the woods at the back were the most amazing mushrooms just growing themselves. Verse 2 is about my main relationship and life experience.
The music to this started off as the setting to my friend Pete Ev's words to the song "Hazy Sun". (He sends me his words and I set them to music then he sings the lead vocal to my backing track and sends me that). So in this case I had a different set of words of my own and "borrowed" my own music to set them. Different key, tempo and arrangement however as my voice is higher.
