Ordinary Bee

V1] just consider an ordinary bee / You think it’s lucky to be just like me

Sipping nectar is all very well / But trust me it can be a living hell

I found out something new - Today so I’m feeling strange

I will only live a week or two / and die in horrible pain

CH 1] you think I'm happy Buzzing round flowers?

So boring hour after hour

The dreadful life of a bee

pollen in bags hanging all round my knees

V2] I seem happy but I just wanna cry

I’m depressed and now I don’t want to fly

Well the flowers are really pretty it’s true

But my mood is deepest blue

The queen is like your mum / But you don't know your dad

You feel like giving up / You feel like you been had

CH2] It’s awful Being a bee / So many others like me

We’re flying until we drop down / Not happy but wearing a frown

Mid 8] And oh when I found out we are poisoned by the humans

I thought well, between you and me, might just as well go, and end it all, peacefully

V3] On the motorway I made a new plan / Huge lorries dangerous vans

I’ll be mashed up on the windscreen

Then I’ll be wiped away without being seen

But life is not like that / When you try to top yourself

I was swished into a buttercup

And saved by a woodland elf

CH3] I’m a failure at being a bee / But the rest of ‘em do not agree

We’re flying day after day / Burning out until we’re passé

CH4] So What’s the point of it all? / Some flowers are twenty feet tall

If you’re lucky you’ll be bee of the week / But in reality the future is bleak

The future’s bleak

I found out that honey bees don't live very long they effectively wear themselves out with work after only a few weeks. So I imagined what a bee would think if they knew this information.

I have anthropomorphically drawn a comparison with the cute bee and the commuter
