Song of the Thames 199

This is the song of the Thames

They chant they sing

All along the river banks

All knowing you’re flowing keep rolling all knowing

All giving keep giving your lovin keep flooding

Composition Notes: I was born near the Thames and all my life it has been there of thereabouts so I wanted to draw on that. I loved rowing or kayaking on teh Thames near Kingston and Hampton Court. I imagined imaginary "Thames Boatmen" singing a jolly Pink Floyd style refrain so to me the sense of place would harmonise with the sense of time i.e. the 1970's. A sad atmosphere nostalgic and regretful at the same time.

Music: This is mostly riffs and guitar solos using my signature "twang" sound and overdriven 70's electric guitar lines. Key of D so the 5-string bass is playing the low D a lot.
